Kevin Greenidge Charitable Trust Gives Inaugural Award
The Kevin Greenidge Charitable Trust (KGCT) awarded its inaugural recipient, Trashonna McCollin, with vital support including “The Kevin Greenidge Prize for Outstanding Results in CXC Business“ during a ceremony in the Governor’s Office.
At that event to present the former student of the Alleyne School with a trophy and prize monies, Governor Greenidge expressed how humbled and honoured he felt to give back to his alma mater.
“I also feel a sense of pride to give back to an institution where I learnt that discipline, hard work, and vision are central to one’s success. It was at the Alleyne School that the successes of a colleague and friend in academics inspired me to apply myself, be diligent, and control my path. I treasure that lesson and I share it with you because it influenced who I am and fuelled the success I enjoy today.”
KGCT, a newly established charity born from the Governor’s love for philanthropy is dedicated to making a positive difference in our community. Its mandate includes assisting the underprivileged and less fortunate young people in Barbados through mentorship, counselling and removing barriers to education and giving back to his alma mater, the Alleyne School.
We extend our congratulations to Trashonna McCollin for her outstanding performance in academics.
Trashonna’s parents, representatives from the school, including Reverend Stephen Scott, Principal of the Alleyne Secondary School and the Head of the school’s Business Department, Shurla Pollard, along with our colleagues, attended the event.
